OCONEE CO., S.C. (WSPA) – A 2-year-old has died after being hit by a car on Westminster Highway near Duck Pond Road, according to S.C. Highway Patrol.
SCHP says a 39-year-old man was traveling south on Westminster Highway when the 2-year-old crossed in front of him.
The Oconee County Coroner says the 2-year-old, Samuel Thomas Bryant, ran into oncoming traffic in front of his home on Westminster Highway.
Bryant was taken to Oconee Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m., according to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office.
It appears the child died from blunt force trauma, the coroner says.
No charges have been filed.
A post mortem exam will be conducted Monday to assist with the death investigation.
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office and SCHP are investigating.
