WILLIAMSTON, SC (WSPA) – American Red Cross is helping a family after a fire destroyed their home on Sweet Gum Circle near Ellison Lake Road in Williamston. Saturday night.
The fire started just before 8:30 p.m.
According to our crew at the scene, the elderly couple who lived in the home was able to escape.
It took firefighters about 10 minutes to have the fire under control.
Whitfield Fire Department responded to the blaze.
A pick-up truck was also destroyed in the fire.
The Red Cross is providing the couple with temporary housing, financial assistance for food and clothing, and comfort kits, as well as referrals to partner agencies to assist with long-term recovery.
