SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA)— The Caribbean islands are bracing for hurricane force wind and torrential downpours with mudslides throughout the next few days.

Matthew will then move through the Bahamas with devastating flooding in the forecast.

By late-week the hurricane is forecast to be east of Florida and off the southeast coast of the United States.

The Carolina coast could see some impact from Matthew as early as the weekend with up to 40 foot waves near Myrtle Beach.

However, a change in forecast track could make a big difference in how much or how little impact is seen for the Carolinas.
