Firefighter killed in motorcycle crash in Greenville; driver cited

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA)- A firefighter is dead after a motorcycle and pickup truck collided in Greenville Monday morning.

Adam Cory Shaver, 28, of Taylors, died after the crash on Haywood Road at Halton Road around 8 a.m.

The Highway Patrol says Shaver was riding on Haywood Road when a man driving a pickup truck entered the road from a private drive and hit Shaver.

Shaver was helmeted at the time of the crash but died at the scene, the coroner says.

The driver of the pickup truck is cited with failure to yield.

According to the Lake Cunningham Fire Department, Shaver was a firefighter with the department.

The fire department released the following statement on his death,

We are deeply saddened and heartbroken over the loss of one of our brothers. Adam loved to help others and to serve his community. He was extremely dedicated and will be greatly missed. Please join us as we continue to offer prayers and support for Firefighter Shaver’s family.”

The pickup truck involved is from AAA Supple Inc.
