Just one postponement announced for Friday’s games as Beraa at Carolina has been moved to Saturday at 2pm.
Thursday it was announced that the Travelers Rest at Blue Ridge game has been moved up to a 6:30pm start.
As of 4:30pm Friday all other games scheduled for Friday night remained in place.
Early this week, the South Carolina High School League has extended the high school football regular season by a week to accommodate the number of games in the lower part of the state that will not be played this weekend due to the potential impact of Hurricane Matthew.
The playoffs will, thus, also be extended by a week to now end December 9th and 10th.
The league made a similar move last season when flooding in the lower part of the state led to numerous postponements.
A different scenario is at work this season in that all schools are scheduled for just 10 regular season games. So, unlike last year, upstate schools will sit-out just one week of games (Week 11, which would have been the first week of the playoffs but will now be the final week of the regular season for many lower state schools) instead of two when then-4A schools played 11 and other classifications played 10.
