Mother and her 6 children hurt in Spartanburg Co. house fire

SPARTANBURG Co., SC (WSPA)— Seven people were taken to the hospital after a home in Campobello caught fire, Tuesday around 3:30am.

Fire officials say the fire happened at 880 Macedonia Church Rd.

The land owner tells us that a mom and her six children ages 4-18 were injured. The father was not home at the time.

Gowensville Fire Department says two of the victims were flown to the hospital and the other five were taken by EMS.

Assistant Fire Chief Case Barnett with the Gowensville Fire Dept. says three of the victims had to be rescued from the burning home.

The home did not have working smoke detectors. Firefighters told us the family dogs alerted the family to the danger.

Gowensville Fire district. Holly Springs, Campobello and Landrum fire departments all responded to the scene.

Firefighters are investigating what caused the fire.
