ACC To Hold At Eight Conference Football Games


ACC Athletic Directors voted Wednesday to hold the conference schedule in football at eight games while requiring its schools to play at least Power Five non-conference game, according to a bulletin put out by the league on Twitter.

There had been a movement in the league to go to nine conference games.

However, that provided potential inequity for some league members, like Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Florida State, who annually play an in-state Power Five rival.

Going to nine league game would likely have meant an end to such program playing an additional Power Five team each season, as Clemson has with Auburn this year and Florida State with Ole Miss.
