(WSPA)— School officials say they are aware of the recent threats that surfaced on an Instagram page against Spartanburg and Dorman High School, along with several neighborhoods in the community.

Spartanburg County district six and seven released a joint statement Monday saying they are following up on the post and have notified the Investigation Division of the Sheriff’s Office.

The statement reads:

Although there are many clown pranks and hoaxes going on across the country, we take the safety of our students very seriously and will have extra security on hand. If anyone has information related to this posting we ask that you immediately contact the district office or the sheriff’s office.”
