Thousands lose power after vehicle hits power pole in Spartanburg Co.


PACOLET, S.C. (WSPA) — Thousands of people were without power in Spartanburg County.

About 7,200 customers lost power Monday afternoon, according to Duke Energy. Outages were reported in near the eastside of Spartanburg, Pacolet, and Cowpens communities.

A spokesman with Duke Energy said that a vehicle struck a transmission pole on Vulcan Road around 3:20 p.m. Monday. A pole was knocked out. As of 4:30 p.m., Duke says power has been restored to all but 1,500 customers.
