ANDERSON CO., SC (WSPA) – A 69-year-old woman has died at the hospital two weeks after a church bus crash that injured over a dozen people.
Shirley Ann Romine died Tuesday afternoon at Greenville Memorial Hospital from injures she sustained in the crash on September 26 on I-85 in Anderson County.
The crash happened when a Homeland Park Baptist church van collided with a truck near mile marker 11.
Romine was originally taken to AnMed for her injuries but later transferred to Greenville because of the severity of those injuries.
Highway Patrol says everyone in the van was wearing seatbelts.
The driver of the pickup truck, 30-year-old Christopher Mezzapesa, was charged with reckless driving after he rear ended the van causing it to swerve and turn over onto its side, according to SCHP.
