Person hurt after officer-involved shooting in Charlotte

The Highway Patrol needs your help to find a vehicle they say was involved in a hit and run Saturday night in Greenville County.

(WSPA)— The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police department is investigating after an officer shot someone early Wednesday morning.

The officer reportedly pulled into a Days Inn parking lot after hearing gunshots coming from the area, police say.

After the officer got out of her vehicle, she saw a person with a handgun.

The officer fired her weapon and struck the person who was later sent to the hospital, according to police.

The officer was not hurt.

Police say the gun was found on the scene.

The officer will be put on administrative leave.
