Spartanburg School District 6 has bought a farm and is putting their kids to work!

The district has control of 49 acres along with Upstate Forever and the Spartanburg County Foundation.  The land is located near Cragmoor Farm and the Walnut Grove Plantation.

The farm will be officially certified as an organic farm, teaching students healthy eating and agriculture education.

Right now cowpeas have planted, they will be mowed down to be used as a cover crop.

In the spring, the school will grow broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, zucchini, and squash. All of the vegetables will be used in their cafeterias.
