CLINTON, S.C. (News Release) – The Presbyterian College football team needed just a couple of days to find an opponent for an 11th game for the 2016 season. PC and South Alabama have agreed to play on the gridiron in Mobile, Ala. on November 19, the two schools announced on Saturday afternoon.
“We are excited about playing South Alabama,” Athletic Director Brian Reese said. “It is a great opportunity for us. We are fortunate things played out the way they did and we were able to schedule a quality opponent like South Alabama.”
The matchup will be the first ever between the Blue Hose and the Jaguars on the gridiron. It will also be PC’s first meeting with a school from the Sun Belt Conference since the Blue Hose moved to Division I in 2007. PC will face off against a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) school for the 13th time in school history and the second time in 2016.
The Blue Hose have taken on three current Sun Belt schools in the past but none of the schools were members of the league at the time. PC holds a 9-8 all-time record against Appalachian State, a 2-2 mark against Troy and has faced Georgia Southern on three occasions.
The contest completes PC’s 2016 schedule, replacing the game against Florida that was cancelled earlier this week. The Gators will now travel to LSU, who cancelled its game against South Alabama, on November 19 for a key SEC showdown.
Game time and broadcast information will be announced at a later date. For ticket information, fans can log on to USAJaguars.com.
PC is back in action on October 22 when its travels to Charleston Southern at 6 p.m. in a key Big South contest.
