Man shot, killed outside convenience store in Simpsonville

SIMPSONVILLE (WSPA) – A man from Honea Path is dead after a shooting late Sunday night outside a convenience store in Simpsonville.

James Pridmore, 49, died from multiple gunshot wounds according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. A person of interest is in custody, but has not been charged in the shooting.

Investigators say Pridmore was shot outside a Spinx store at 1301 Fairview Road in Simpsonville around 10:25 p.m. Pridmore was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital according to the coroner where he died around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Greenville County Sheriff’s Office deputies say Daniel Claycomb, 46 was taken into custody after they arrived. Claycomb was held on weapons violations, but has not been charged in regards to the shooting.

An autopsy on Pridmore’s remains is scheduled for Monday. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 23-CRIME.
