DES MOINES, Iowa (KWQC) – Chewbacca is a beefy German wirehair who tips the scales at around 80 pounds.

CC is a rat-terrier mix who might reach 20 pounds soaking wet.

Though they look nothing alike, the two were inseparable during a recent stay at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

“CC was always either draped over Chewy, lying on top of him or cuddled up right beside him,” says ARLI spokesperson Jessica Jorgenson.  “They didn’t have a home, but they still had each other.”

ARLI posted photos of the comically odd couple on Facebook, and fans fell in love with the way the two did everything together from sleeping to going on walks to car rides.

“Their strong bond really seemed to resonate with people, and they had such an adorable way of showing that bond,” Jorgenson says.  “What you see in the pictures is what we saw at the shelter every day.”

ARLI required that whoever adopted one must also adopt the other, which turned out to be no problem.

Jorgenson says an Iowa family took in both within days of the first Facebook post and gave the two a new extended animal family.

“They now live with 2 other dogs and 3 pet pigs!”
