The animal advocate behind Big Oaks Rescue for horses has passed away after a battle with lung cancer.
Joe Mann rescued hundreds of horses at his Greenwood County farm. He passed away on Tuesday.
Mary Moss, a Big Oaks Board member, will take over the farm and animals.
Big Oaks Rescue posted this tribute to Joe:
“Joe never liked to be called a Hero. But he was. We are heart broken and need time to grieve the loss of this great man. We wanted to let you know that Big Oaks Rescue Farm appreciates all the support that you have shown for the animals and Joe. Mary and the volunteers will continue with Joe’s dream to help animals. Please pray for everyone as they continue caring for animals in need. Joe would want us all to be strong and consider the animals in need. Thank you, Penny”
