UPDATE: The search is over this morning for a Polk County, NC man.
According to Polk County Dispatch, the 66-year-old man was found safe Tuesday night, shortly after 11 p.m.
They say the man and his three dogs were found in a heavy wooded area, just one mile from his home.
Deputies say the man is believed to have dementia.
POLK CO., N.C. (WSPA) – A man is missing from the Green Creek Community, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Ronald Van Patterson, 66, walked away from his home on Phillip Henderson Road on Wednesday.
He has severe dementia, deputies say.
Patterson was last seen wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, plaid flannel pants, and brown shoes.
He may be accompanied by three white German Shepherds.
Patterson is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 155 pounds.
Crews with Polk, Rutherford, and Henderson Counties are searching for Patterson.
“At this time there is potential that Mr. Patterson may be lost in a remote area that is heavily wooded. Multiple agencies are involved in a large scale effort to locate him,” Captain Lowell Griffin with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.
Anyone with information of Patterson’s whereabouts is asked to call the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at 828-894-3001.
