Saturday, runners will have a chance to run their personal best in a 5k run, while being chased or motivated to run faster, by zombies.
The Bowers-Rodgers Children’s Home is a nonprofit, residential care facility for abused, abandoned and neglected children.
Organizer and Executive Director of the home Ti Barnes said the facility is licensed for 19 children from age 7 to age 21. Cases are referred by the Department of Social Services.
The 5K Zombie OutRun is a fundraiser with a goal to raise awareness and funds for the Bowers-Rodgers Children’s Home, child abuse and volunteerism. Zombie volunteers are still needed for the run.
Barnes said that there will be Zombies along the trail at Camp Fellowship which is located off of Hwy. 72 on the Greenwood/Laurens boarder of Lake Greenwood.
The exact address is 457 Camp Fellowship Rd. Waterloo, SC 29384. Registration starts at 7:30a and the race will begin at 9:00a on October 29.
After the race Barnes said the group is partnering with Camp Fellowship and is hosting a Spooktacular Family Fun Day that is open and free to the public.
Expect inflatables for the children, a costume contest, games, prizes, music and food sold by Camp Fellowship.
