ABBEVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – The Abbeville Co. coroner confirms the body found on Richard Russel Lake is Mitchell Gibson.
They were hired by the family of Mitchell Gibson.
DNR says Gibson’s body was recovered just before 2 p.m. Thursday by the Oconee Co. dive team.
Royston & Associates, an Underwater Search & Recovery Group, used side scan sonar and found something that may be a body on Wednesday.
Gibson went missing on the lake in March 2016.
They say Gibson was in 137 feet of water.
DNR says Mitchell Gibson reported to work on March 13 and started bait fishing near the lake’s dam, but he never reported back.
His truck and boat trailer were still at the lake.
The family says they found items that belonged to Gibson, but they never found him or his boat.
