ANDERSON, SC (WSPA) – Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Matthew Tyler Castle, 23, of Belton in connection with a recent shooting investigation.
They say Castle is accused of shooting multiple rounds into an occupied vehicle outside the Spinx Service Station on Highway 28 By-Pass in Anderson.
The shooting happened around 4:06 am Wednesday morning.
They say Castle entered the store and indicated to an on-scene deputy that he was being following by people in a Jeep who would shoot him when he exited the store.
The deputy called for backup and advised Castle to stay inside the store and out of sight.
Instead, Castle pulled out a handgun, exited the store and shot at a green Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot, according to the deputy.
They say two people got out of the vehicle and ran.
Castle was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Deputies say no one was hurt and there is no indication that the parties involved knew each other.
Castle is currently incarcerated at the Anderson County Detention Center. His bond has been set at $40,000.
