The Spartanburg County Sheriff released a video today only to 7 News that shows former detention officer Brian Blalock using excessive force inside the detention center.
Brian Blalock was fired for that excessive force in 2012. In 2013 Blalock sued the Sheriff’s Office stating that he faced racial discrimination inside the detention center.
Blalock recently took to Facebook to express his opinions for the upcoming election. That video also contained Blalock’s thoughts on the lawsuit and his excessive force and why he was fired.
Sheriff Wright says he felt the need to release the video to show the truth. In the video you can see Blalock approach the jail cell with three other officers, open the cell and shove the inmate back in. You can then see Blalock stomping on the inmate’s foot several times.
Wright says kicking inmates is against their excessive force policy.
Blalock is being sued for $10,000 for violating the 2015 settlement.
