SIMPSONVILLE, SC (WSPA) – A woman’s body was found early Wednesday morning in an abandoned home in the woods on Southeast Main Street in Simpsonville.
The coroner says she died from knife injuries and the death is a homicide.
Catherine Ann Blauvelt, 22, of Avalon Court, was reported missing after family members didn’t see or hear from her for several hours.
Simpsonville police were notified about the “suspicious death” around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Her friends started searching for her and found her body in an old abandoned house that was a high school hangout, police say. No one has lived in the home for more than 20 years, according to Chief Steve Moore.
Police say Blauvelt’s body was found in a small concrete cellar in the basement.
LOOKING FOR HER CAR
Simpsonville police announced Wednesday that they were looking for Blauvelt’s vehicle. Moore said that her vehicle, a 2011 Ford Fiesta, was recovered on White Horse Road around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
