Appalachian State University student found dead inside car

BOONE, NC (WJHL) –  Police in Boone, North Carolina are working a death investigation after a young woman was found shot dead in a car.

Police say the body was found just after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in a parking lot on Tracy Circle near the intersection of Mac Street.

Authorities have identified the victim as 21-year-old Savannah Taylor Karten from Glen Allen, Virginia. Karten was a student at Appalachian State University.

Although Boone Police are considering all possibilities, at this time there is no information to indicate foul play.

The investigation is ongoing.
