The Veterans Day Parade honoring all Veterans will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 beginning with a flyover at 2 p.m.
The Parade will begin at the South Main Baptist Church lead by the McLeod brother Bag Pipers and end at the Veterans Center.
A Post Parade Reception held for the Parade participants and the general public beginning will begin about 3:30pm.
The Reception will feature entertainment by the Adams Sisters, President Abraham Lincoln and the Soul Revival Band.
They say this year’s Parade is bigger and hope better than ever with many Military organizations and Reserve units participating.
Greenwood High School Army and Emerald High School Air Force JROTC Units will be marching along with the Emerald High School Band and Cheerleaders from both High Schools.
The Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts are represented and two local dance troupes, FIYA and Performing Arts, will entertain the crowd along the parade route.
The Knights of Columbus and Wyatt Farms have a float honoring Veterans.
You can also get your Blood Pressure checked at the Self Regional Mobile Health Unit positioned in front of the Veterans Center.We are honoring two special Veterans this year, 100 year old WWII Seaman 1C Louis Beaube and Korean War POW Jack Simmons.
If you are a Veteran please wear some article of clothing to identify you as such.
There are also a few more surprises so we hope that you will come out to the parade and also attend the Post Parade Reception.
