Tryon wins bid for 2018 World Equestrian Games

MILL SPRING, NC (WSPA) – The Tryon International Equestian Center has won their bid for the 2018 World Equestrian Games.

The games will be held September 10 through 23.

“We are thrilled with this news and thank the FEI Bureau for having faith in us and entrusting us with the honour of hosting this prestigious event,” said Tryon International Equestian Center creator Mark Bellissimo. “It’s a really great fit for The Carolinas Equestrian heritage and we look forward to working closely with the FEI and with the USEF to produce fabulous FEI World Equestrian Games in 2018.”

The 2014 games in Normandy, France had an economic impact of over $400 million.

The World Equestrian Games are held every four years and combines eight World Championships at one event.

The games have been held since 1990 and were first held in the US in 2010.

A news conference is being held at 10am Friday at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce to announce the games.
