GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) — The sixth annual Second Chance pardon and expungement workshop is happening today in Greenville.

The workshop gives hundreds of people the chance to wipe their criminal records clean.

Organizers say some people have charges from years ago that keep them from finding a good job. Others say background checks keep them from being able to lease or rent a place to live.

The workshop is organized by the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services.  Probationers, parolees and ex-offenders or any individual with criminal challenges in their background will be attending the fair, although anyone who needs employment or a better job is welcome to attend.

Participants will meet with experts at 10am, going over the possibilities of pardons and expungement.

That workshop will be followed by a job fair at 11am with more than 40 potential employers. Some will hold interviews on the spot.

Organizers say it’s important to bring resumes and dress for potential interviews.

The workshop is being held at the West End Community Development Center in Greenville, off of Vardry Street.
