SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A new leadership program is now accepting applications for Spartanburg County students in 11th and 12th grades. The Spartanburg County Foundation and the Clerk of Court teamed up to announce the Spartanburg County Criminal Justice Youth Institute.
At a news conference announcing the program Friday morning, Spartanburg County Clerk of Court Hope Blackley said the goal of the program is to help young people understand the process. “It’ll be a very open communication between leaders and youth and to hopefully prevent any issues of misunderstanding when you’re stopped or when you have to deal with the criminal justice system,” Blackley explained.
The first students start the four-month leadership program in January. The deadline to apply is November 30th. For more information click here.
