ANDERSON, SC (WSPA-TV) — Troopers responded to a fatal collision near the 35 mile marker on Interstate 85 in Anderson County Saturday morning.

The crash happened just after 6:30 a.m., according to SC Highway Patrol.

According to the report by SCHP, both of the vehicles involved in this crash were heading North on Interstate 85.

23-year-old Joshua Daniel Baxter was driving a Ford SUV home from a friend’s house, with his girlfriend, when he struck the back of a Chevrolet SUV, causing his SUV to flip on its side.

He was partially ejected and died from multiple traumatic injuries, according to the Anderson County coroner.

They say he was not wearing a seat belt.

His girlfriend and the driver of the other SUV were not injured.

The Anderson County coroner says alcohol, drugs, and speed were all likely factors in the crash.
