JACK ROPER
Hi, Jack Roper here in Cowpens at the Plant-A-Row Garden. In fact we’re here to give away our Caring for the Carolinas volunteer award to a gentleman that is a master gardener. His name is Harold Page

KIM DILLARD – NOMINATOR
Well, Harold and is wife and all the master gardener volunteers do so much out here in these gardens to help the community of Spartanburg.

JIM WEEKS – VOLUNTEER GARDENER
We take vegetables to Miracle Hill, to the soup kitchen, to the Miller place, to all the other shelters, the Children’s Shelter, so we’re over 17 thousand pounds this year going to all those places, so it’s really a good cause.

GWEN CLARY
I’ve owned this land for a long time and it just does my heart good to know that so many worthy people get food from here.

JACK ROPER
Our friends at Hardee’s, one of our sponsors, has a third pound thickburger for you every week for a year. Can you put one of those away you think?

HAROLD PAGE – AWARD WINNER
Oh, 3 or 4 bites, Jack, no trouble at all. thank you

JACK ROPER
Enjoy that.

HAROLD PAGE
I’ll do that!

JIM WEEKS
Harold has said that if he had to do it himself, he and Beverly his wife, they’de be out here doing it on their own.

JACK ROPER
Well, for the month of November, it is with great pleasure we present our Caring for the carolinas Award, sponsored of course by Hardees and Bath Fitter, to Mister Harold Page, master gardener. And you and a lot of volunteers make a lot of things happen. Look right over here, all this stuff they’re growing right here. Let’s give harold a nice hand. Allright.
