Military veterans employed by GE, GHS, Michelin and the Greenville Drive are hosting the first annual SC Veterans Upstate Salute at Fluor Field at 5 p.m. today.
This free event will include a Tracy Lawrence concert, 21-gun salute, fireworks and opportunities for veterans to learn about services that can help.
There will also be performances by Upstate high school JROTC groups, food and a helicopter take off following the National Anthem.
Parking is available at Greenville County Square and a shuttle will drive you over to the field from 3:30 until 8:30. Parking for people with disabilities is available at the field but spaces are limited.
There is no cost to attend, but registration is required at upstatesalute.com.
“This event was strategically done in the evening so children could come. The most important thing we can do is educate the next generation of veterans, and veteran supporters,” said Kevin McBride with GHS.
