ASHEVILLE (WSPA) – A driver has been charged after a deadly accident involving a pedestrian Saturday morning on I-240 in Asheville.
The Asheville Police Department charged Aaron Lee Thurman, 26, of Black Mountain with driving while impaired. Additional charges are pending.
Police say Thurman was driving a 1990 Chevrolet GMT 400 westbound on I-240 when he entered the right shoulder of the highway just after 6:00 am. The vehicle struck Christian Blade Johnson, 23, of Asheville.
Johnson was walking along the highway near Chunns Cove Road. He died at the scene.
