How to help firefighters battling wildfires in SC, NC

Here is a list of known drop off locations for firefighters battling the Upstate SC and western NC wildfires.

UPSTATE SC

Pickens Fire Department – Non-perishable items can be donated at Pickens City Fire Department on Johnson Street.

Landrum Fire Department – As of Thursday, Party Rock fire crews need sleeping bags, blankets, wool boot socks, blister care, eye drops, nasal spray, and lip balm. Pinnacle Mountain fire crews need hydrating sports drinks such as Gatorade, disposable plates/cups/silverware, coffee and liquid creamer, fruit, and headache pain relievers. Donations can be dropped off at the department at 200 N. Trade Avenue in Landrum.

Chesnee Community Fire Department –  The fire station at 5854 Chesnee Highway is collecting and delivering donations, along with Boiling Springs Fire Department, for crews battling the fire at Lake Lure. They will pick up donations at Hendrix Elementary School at 1 p.m. Friday, as well as Chesnee Middle School. a drop-off location for donations for firefighters battling the fire around Lake Lure. WESTERN NC

Lake Lure Town Hall – Food and water

Asheville – Mission Health set up donation boxes at each of its six hospitals and at its offices at Ridgefield Court in Asheville. The top needs are eye drops, saline nasal spray, lip balm, pocket size body lotion, individual packets of ibuprofen, energy bars, and socks.

Rutherford Life Services – Donations are needed for beef jerky, chap stick, eye wash, wool caps/toboggans, bandanas, protein bars, breakfast bars, boot socks, travel size hand wipes, travel size hand lotion, travel size Gold Bond foot powder, and handwarmer gloves. Drop off donations at 230 Fairground Road in Spindale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. It will also be open November 21st through November 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mud Creek Baptist Church – Beef jerky, chap stick, eye wash, wool caps/toboggans, bandanas, protein bars, breakfast bars, boot socks, travel size hand wipes, travel size hand lotion, travel size Gold Bond foot powder, and handwarmer gloves can be donated at the church located at 403 Rutledge Drive in Hendersonville from Saturday through Tuesday. The N.C. Department of Emergency Management, asks people to direct donations to specific counties.
