Coroner IDs moped driver killed in Greenwood Co. crash

CORONACA, SC (WSPA) – A moped driver is dead and a teenager is in the hospital after a crash involving an SUV and pickup truck on US 221 in Greenwood County.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, the driver of the moped was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet SUV driven by an 18-year-old driver who was injured and taken to Self Regional Medical Center for his injuries.

The coroner identified the moped driver as Carolyn Dorn Cobb, 51, of Waterloo. Cobb died at the scene from blunt force trauma, the coroner said.

All vehicles were headed north on US Highway 221 in Coronaca when troopers say that the driver of a 2005 Nissan pickup truck hit the SUV, which struck the moped. The pickup truck driver was not reportedly hurt in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
