ARDEN, NC (WSPA) – A man was arrested after deputies say he fired shots at an officer and into a house in Arden.
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office charged William Edward Jones, 43, with first-degree attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a home on Spring Valley Drive for a report of domestic violence just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they say Jones fired at a responding deputy, striking their vehicle twice. They say Jones also fired into the home.
Nobody was injured in the shooting and Jones was taken into custody.
He’s being held at the Buncombe County jail on $360,000 bond.
Deputies say the caller is seeking donations on behalf of the South Carolina Sheriffs’ Association via the telephone.
The victim said he thinks the vehicles were taken with a “snatch truck” or a flat bed while he was sleeping.
