LAKE LURE, NC (WSPA) – Governor Pat McCrory announced today that the state is offering a reward of up to $10,000 to be issued to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who are responsible for setting wildfires in western North Carolina.
More than 46,000 acres have been burned by wildfires throughout the region, many of which are believed to have been man-made.
Anyone having information concerning these wildfires should contact Macon County Crimestoppers at 828-349-2600 or Jackson County Crimestoppers at 828-631-1125.
By the end of the day Monday, it was reported to be 1,365 acres and 20 percent contained.
It is about 20 miles south of Waynesville, North Carolina, in the headwaters of Crawford Creek.
