Deaverview Apt. murder suspect caught, 1 on the run

ASHEVILLE, NC (WSPA) – Frederick N. Simpson Jr., 23, has been arrested by the U.S. Marshall Service in Conyer, GA. Simpson had an open warrant for 1st Degree Murder in connection to the shooting death of 40-year-old Travis Dominick Mayfield, according to Asheville Police.

Police are still searching for a second suspect, Travoscia Herbrell Brown, 25.

The homicide occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016.

Police saySimpson, Brown, and Mayfield got into an argument that swiftly escalated.

Mayfield was found still alive with a gunshot wound to the back of the neck.

He was transported to Mission Hospital where he died just over an hour later.

Police say Brown should be considered armed and dangerous.

The public should use caution and not approach Brown, and instead call 911 immediately.

Brown is a 25 year-old black male, about 5’10” tall, weighing between 150 and 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

He has a tattoo on his left wrist that says “LYNN”; tattoos on his left arm that say “DESTINY” and “RIP TREVON”; a tattoo on his right wrist that says “SHALIA & BRIONNA” and tattoos on his right arm of a $100.00 bill and ones on the same arm that say “BROWN” and “RIP DREAK”.
