Country music superstars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are performing this weekend at the Bon Secours Wellness arena.
Tour officials said Garth Brooks is coming off a 25-year touring break and fans in the Upstate said they’re thrilled to hear new music and see energetic performances.
Brooks was awarded Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards for the fifth time, a first for any artist. Fans are anticipating the release of his new album Gunslinger on November 25.
Yearwood spoke to media about her cooking show and furniture line as well as a Christmas album the two recorded together in June.
The duo told fans what they like about being back on the road.
“You learned what’s important in your life and doing what you love to do with the people that you love it’s everything,” said Yearwood.
“This music is 25 years old but you’ll play the opening chord of friends in low places and it’ll feel like it’s the first time it’s just so sweet. We rely on you guys to bring the game with you,” said Brooks.
Brooks and Yearwood said Greenville is the last city they will play in 2016 and fans should expect a lot of laughs and jokes.
Brooks also said organizers who helped him start his Teammates for Kids foundation were instrumental in bringing about this tour.
He discussed his satellite radio channel with media on Friday saying that listeners will hear legendary artists of country music and other genres like rock and hip-hop.
