CHIMNEY ROCK, NC (WSPA) – Chimney Rock State Park will reopen Friday Nov. 25 at 8:30 a.m., according to the park.
The park was evacuated on Nov. 11 due to the Party Rock fire in the Hickory Nut Gorge area.
They say the fire did not affect any of the park.
They say very little evidence of the fire will be noticeable from the top of Chimney Rock Mountain because the fire burned lead litter and debris along the ground and did not climb into the tree canopy.
By the end of the day Monday, it was reported to be 1,365 acres and 20 percent contained.
It is about 20 miles south of Waynesville, North Carolina, in the headwaters of Crawford Creek.
