For years now Black Friday hasn’t been a day but more like a four day event, sometimes longer.
So ahead of Thanksgiving we looked into which days offer the best deals on specific items.
7 News got expert advice from the analysts that track prices year to year and found there’s a definite strategy to saving.
The word “Thursday” is all over Black Friday adds. Throw in Cyber Monday and Small Business Saturday and you get a lot of this.
“OK, is this what I want on this day, or am I going to wait until Monday?” said shopper Kate Meyer.
Price analysts at DealNews says Thanksgiving Day deals beat all others. But here’s how it breaks down by category.
“If you want to get a little more specific, Thanksgiving and Black Friday is when you want to focus on those big ticket black Friday items like electronics, TVs, Computers and home appliances. Whereas Cyber Monday you want to look more at soft goods like clothing and shoes and beauty products” said Benjamin Glaser with DealNews.
Shopper Jo Kitchens will be in line Thursday for a smart TV. She says, Thanksgiving Day shopping has changed the whole feel of Black Friday.
“I went at midnight one time a couple of year’s ago and it was crazy out, you know, like Black Friday used to be, but so when last year when I went about 5am there was nobody out, even on Woodruff Rd in Greenville, there was nobody out,” she said.
The deals are also different this year with never before seen price drops on 4K TV’s, streaming devices, Apple products, and video game consoles. DealNews has a master list of the very best sales by category.
You’ll also see some more incentives to download a store’s app. For instance Amazon is offering app only deals. And Target’s Cartwheel app is offering Black Friday prices today, including Apple’s iPad mini 2.
What about online versus in store?
“Yes, because I may not make it to the store, with the kids,” said Meyer.
Aside from those limited door busters, DealNews says this year most deals you can get without ever leaving your home.
