PICKENS CO., SC (WSPA) – Firefighters say the fire at Pinnacle Mountain has grown to over 8,900 acres and is 40 percent contained as of Friday morning.

According to firefighters, light winds and moderate humidity Friday should help crews reinforce firelines.

Crews are also working to finish a fireline from the North Carolina / South Carolina State Line to the Saluda River to stop the fire from spreading west.

There are no current evacuations for the fire.

Table Rock State Park and its trails remain closed as well as the trails from Caesar’s Head to Sassafras.

There are 6 helicopters and over 250 firefighters working to contain the fire.
