POWDERSVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – A man is dead after a crash involving a bicycle and a car on Anderson Road, near Walmart, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.
The accident happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
They say 50-year-old John Jeffrey Abbott, of Piedmont, was riding a bike when he was hit by a car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both Abbott and the driver of the car were traveling north on Hwy 81 when the accident occurred.
Powdersville Fire Department and Pelzer EMS responded to the scene.
Hwy 81 was shut down for over an hour.
S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.
