GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Each year many people are not only looking at small businesses for gifts but also animal shelters or adoption agencies.
Many people may be searching for the perfect pup or kitten for a special someone.
For many adoption agencies, surprise animal gifts are not an option.
Adoptable companion owner Tina Edwards said it is never good to adopt a dog for someone else.
Her business doesn’t allow it because the dog could be abandoned or brought back.
But she said there are alternatives.
“If they have a family member or a friend or somebody that has fallen in love with the dog and wants to keep the dog then they just come back up here and do another contract or application and that way I can keep up with where the dog is,” said Edwards.
