GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – The teen driver in a crash that killed a Travelers Rest High School student is facing charges.
Tyler Scraggs, 18, was charged with felony DUI causing death and felony DUI causing great bodily injury.
Eleventh-grader Haylee Cantrell, 16, died Tuesday – just days after the crash on Sunday afternoon.
Troopers say Scraggs was driving north on Taylor Road when he ran off the right side, lost control, crossed back over the roadway, ran off the left side, struck an embankment and overturned, troopers say.
Nobody in the car was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Two other passengers were injured in the crash.
