GREENVILLE Co., SC (WSPA) — One man is dead and another behind bars after a deadly crash.

Troopers say the driver of a pickup truck was under the influence when he hit and killed a pedestrian around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday on Arch Street.

The coroner identified the pedestrian as Michael Edward Carson, 48, of Seneca.

Troopers say the driver, 26-year-old Lonel Ali Teasley, was driving west when he illegally passed another car, drove off the road, and hit Carson.

Carson was thrown several feet and died at the scene from multi-body trauma, according to the coroner.

Teasley fled the scene on foot before he was arrested by troopers with the S.C. Highway Patrol. He is charged with felony DUI and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Troopers say Teasley was not hurt in the crash.
