It’s week two of the 7 News Hometown Spotlight series and this week we’re in Forest City.
We know so many towns in the Carolinas are special because of the people that live there. Forest City residents said their town is no different with a slogan of “Small town deep roots.”
Forest city is centered around a built up main street. Business owners said their bustling downtown is part of the Forest City Main Street Program.
The program is a partnership between the downtown and community Development Department and the Forest City Merchants Association.
City organizers said that over the past thirty years, the main street movement has changed and renewed the way communities think about revitalization.
7 News was joined by many people and businesses including Mayor Steve Holland, Davis’s Donuts, The Twisted Pear and Burnt Chimney, Bennet Classic Antique Auto Museum, The Copper Penny and Foothills Cafe, Smith’s Drugs, Dovetails and Rusty Nail’s Antiques and more.
There will be a Christmas cleebration downtown for the next two weekends including hayrides and carriage rides, photos with Santa and more.
