Upstate veteran gets home improvement assistance

A United States Air Force veteran got some help from volunteers Thursday, who came out to help install a kitchen floor and HVAC system.

The volunteers work through the Purple Heart Homes Project in coordination with Home Depot to provide home improvement assistance to veterans who need it.

Glen Hudson, 78 year old Air Force veteran and cancer patient who received aid from the Purple Heart Homes Project said, “I’m so grateful. I feel that it’s a blessing from God. They’re marvelous people, they’re so friendly, generous, and kind.”

Similar projects have taken place before in the upstate, including one held just last month in Pickens.

Since 2011 “Team Depot” has helped transform more than 26,700 homes in the United States.
