MCDOWELL CO., N.C. (WSPA) – A man was found dead inside his burning home Friday morning, according to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.
The remains of 70-year-old Michael Roy Lamb were pulled from his home on N. Phillips Drive in Marion.
Lamb was pronounced dead at 10:50 a.m.
Fire Investigator Craig Walker of McDowell County Emergency Management says it is unclear if Lamb died as a result of the fire.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
Witnesses saw smoke and called 911 at 10:25 a.m.
The single-wide mobile home was destroyed.
The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
It reportedly started in the bathroom.
“It appears to be noncriminal in nature, but it’s going to require further investigation,” Walker said.
