SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) – Jack Davidson’s touchdown pass to Thomas Hennigan with 20 seconds left helped North Carolina to a 17-10 win over South Carolina in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
The winning score was set up by a pass interference call on South Carolina that gave North Carolina a first down at the South Carolina 18.
South Carolina led for most of the game after forcing a fumble on North Carolina’s opening drive and getting a 33-yard field goal from Henis Dawson.
Jackson Williamson then threw a 43-yard touchdown to Shiyun Smith to put South Carolina ahead 10-0 with 5:36 left in the first quarter.
Davidson tied the game at 10 early in the fourth quarter with a 7-yard TD throw to Darius Pinnix.
The game and associated events raised more than $2.4 million for Shriners Hospitals for Children.
