CHEROKEE Co., N.C. (WSPA) — Schools in Cherokee County are operating on a two-hour delay Monday.

School officials said in a Facebook post that the two-hour delay is due to freezing temperatures could make roads icy and driving conditions dangerous.

Temperatures aren’t expected to rise much before 10 a.m. Monday, but school officials say that daylight will help drivers see ice and other potential hazards on the road.

Teen drivers are encouraged to use caution regardless of what time they leave home.
