SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A Boiling Springs man has been charged after a brief pursuit with a trooper ended in a wreck.
The vehicle was stopped around 9:20 a.m. Monday by a trooper with the S.C. Highway Patrol on northbound Interstate 85 at mile marker 69.
Corporal Bill Rhyne with the Highway Patrol says during the stop, the driver’s vehicle rolled back and struck the front of the trooper’s unit. The trooper was not reportedly hurt. Rhyne said after hitting the trooper, the driver took off.
Rhyne said the driver took the exit to Highway 176 and crashed. The incident from start to finish lasted two minutes.
The driver, identified as Gregory G. Singleton, 32, of Boiling Springs, was not reportedly hurt.
Singleton has been charged with driving under suspension, failure to stop and not wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
